Be True to Your School
This design represents my school because it is very simple but still has all the logos and names. The most challenging part of this was to place the objects onto the bus. The easiest part was to shape and shift the logo how I wanted it. I am not very interested in digital art but I did enjoy this project.

Before the War
I selected the photo I selected because it seemed more challenging and had more opportunity to learn and improve. The easiest part of this photo was removing the bends and folds from the photo. This was my first time reconstructing a photo. I think this would be an interesting job, but just not for me.

Freak of Nature
In this assignment I choose to combine a White Tiger and a Pomeranian puppy dog. I selected these two animals because they are two of my favorite ones and wanted to see how cute they were together.
the most challenging part of this process was figuring out how to properly use Pixlr because there are many different buttons and things to remember. The easiest part of this project was choosing the pictures and cropping them together. I think my creation looks kind of realistic. This was my first time using photo editing software.

Automotive Body Styles and Designs
Part One
Automotive Body Styles
Automotive Body Styles
SUV- A Sports Utility Vehicle, is similar to an estate, but usually bigger and higher off the ground. SUVs are often offered with four-wheel-drive and are designed for both on- and off-road use. Some have the towing capacity of a pickup, and offer the passenger carrying capacity of a minivan or large sedan.
Crossover- is a vehicle built on a car platform but often with features of an SUV like increased ground clearance and a higher seating position. Crossovers are typically designed only for light off-roading.
Coupes- are often the sporty variants of saloon cars, with doors reduced from 4 to 2. However, the coupe body style varies from carmaker to carmaker, and now there are even four-door coupes like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class. The name ‘coupe' comes from the French verb ‘couper', which means ‘to cut'.
Sedan-also called a saloon, is a passenger car with a bonnet covering the engine and a separate boot for luggage at the rear. This is one of the most popular body styles of cars today, with seating for at least four people. A sedan design is also known as a ‘three-box' design.
| Hatchback- a car with a sloping back and a hinged back door that opens upwards. These cars differ from SUVs, MPVs because they are usually much more compact. Hatchbacks usually have seating for four-five people in a tight squeeze.
Part Two
Automotive Design
1. It takes approximately ten years to design a automobile. The first stage they start of with is sketching the car.
2. Design is called problem solving because they need to design a automobile that pleases everyone and they must design until all the flaws and problems are out.
3. The feasibility stage is when the sketches are taken in to be negotiated to see if it can be done.
4. I do think designing an automotive would interest me because I think it would be cool and very interesting to make something others would use.

Careers and Certification in the Automotive Industry
Part One
NATEF- The mission of the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) is to improve the quality of automotive technician training programs nationwide at secondary, also post-secondary, public and proprietary schools.
Careers in the Automotive Industry
1. High-tech systems unheard of 30 years ago are now standard equipment on much of the nation’s fleet of vehicles. stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control and variable valve timing, and that is just a few.
2. Given the advance of technology and a richly varied automotive industry that offers an array of positions and career paths, the future is bright for talented young persons who are confident with their math, science, communications and technical skills.
3. Some advantages in obtaining an education as an automotive technician versus other high tech educational options are many require four, six, or even eight years of college, automotive technology careers can begin after just two years of education.
4. The U.S. Dept. of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts automotive repair and maintenance industry is expected to add 237,500 new jobs and have a 30 percent growth rate through 2020, making technicians one of the top 20 jobs with relatively high median earnings and the potential for significant job openings over the next decade.
5. One thing that the automotive technician career is immune to that has threatened other careers is the outsourcing of jobs picking up steam, now computer programming, customer call-center work, and accounting services all going overseas – it should be comforting to know that automotive service and repair.
6. Four other positions that an automotive technician can do in the automotive industry is moving into sales, marketing, and business management.
7. So many people have started their careers in the automotive aftermarket as an auto technician that it is viewed as something of a portal career.
Video Reflection
Some things I would enjoy about being an Automotive technician would be learning new things about cars everyday. New technologies are being developed everyday and you would be constantly be doing something different and learning new techniques. Some things I found interesting about the video is that there is a lot of new technology to help the process of fixing cars. Also, there are many apprenticeships to getting into that certain workforce. This notion of life long learning is important and necessary because workers need to be constantly learning and working hard to do their job. If the workers aren't willing to learn and keep up with the advancing technology than they will fall behind and not be and not be able to get their job down. Some characteristics and skills I think someone working as an Automotive Technician should have are being familiar with constant change of cars and parts because there is always new technology being developed.
Part Two
Certification in the Automotive Industry
SGS- Their purpose is to help every player in the automotive industry improve performance and reduce risk, they focus on the design, construction and operation of motor vehicle inspection solutions all over the world.
ASE- Is an independent non-profit organization has worked to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service by testing and certifying automotive professionals. ASE promotes excellence in automotive repair and service
Part Three
Jobs in the Automotive Industry
I think the job that would best suit me would be the "Classic Car Restorer". I think I would like this job the best because I would enjoy the feeling of restoring an old treasured car back to it's original state. It would be a very rewarding feeling to see your final work. I really enjoy hands on learning and getting the work done myself by getting close to the objects.

Emerging Technologies and Automobiles
Technologies in Development
Out of the six emerging technologies discussed in the article I read the one that seems the least likely would be flying cars. I think it is less likely to happen than all the other ones because it seems kind of pointless when we already have planes, it seems like a lot of unnecessary work.
Out of the six emerging technologies discussed in the article I think "EV Extravaganza" would have the biggest impact on society. I think this because in the long run it would be cheaper and would decrease the amount of gas being used with would be a better choice.
Out of the six emerging technologies "Car-to-Car Communication" and "Car-to-Object Communication" is the first that will be used in automobiles. My reasons for thinking this is because they've already developed other things like this such as blue tooth speakers and phones connected to cars.
I think "Driver Workload Estimator" would be very helpful to the driver and their passengers because it would ensure safety. It will help you because it can detect what you're feeling and help you through situations that you feel you don't have any control over.
My thoughts on the technology revolving around the flying car is that I think it is pointless because it will take a long time to get it up and running and even when it is, we still have cars and planes, so why would you bother paying a lot of money for something that you don't really need. One the other hand there would be no traffic jams and little complication.
My opinion on the self driving topic is I think it should be optional. For example, I think old people should be able to get a self driving car because they are getting old and slow. But, I think if you are capable then you should be able to choose which you want.
Tech For the Sake of Tech
It did not surprise me that younger people cared very little about having their smart phone connected to their automobiles. It didn't surprise me because they have everything they need already on their phone and they just use it in their car even though they're not supposed to. Like they have music they listen too anyway.
I think the new technology being introduced such as "cruise control" and "blind spot warning" will make it easier for drivers to take more risks on the road. They will be able to look away longer without running of the road and so on.
When considering the purchase of a new automobile, new technological features are very important to people because if they're paying for a new car they want all the newest and coolest things that come along with it. A new technological feature I would want would be the blind spot warning because I feel like it would benefit me most because I get very distracted.
One new feature I think was introduced in older automobiles that people may have thought was useless at first is the traffic lights. People probably thought there was no point because they didn't have to have it before, but automobiles came a long way since traffic rules were set.

Looking at the History of the Automobile
Carl Benz
1. Automobiles have been around since 1885.
2. A patent government authority or license conferring a right or title for a set period.
3. "A Vehicle with a gas Engine" is the title he uses to describe the automobile.
4. On August 1888 his wife Bertha drove the invention. From this drive the first Petra Station was born.
5. The axial pivot steering system helps the problem of not being able to steer both wheels.
6. Mercedes Benz was the name of the merged company.
7. Carl Benz lived to see his dream come true.
Henry Ford and the Model T
1. The assembly line used to have the employees move from place to place.
2. Everyone working stayed longer and more committed to the Ford because Henry was fair and made sure everyone was paid fairly.
3. The first Model T cost a little over 1000 dollars. It was made for the common man.
4. The Model T price dropped so dramatically dropped 365 dollars. It dropped so dramatically because they made too many and needed to get rid of them fast, and they just wanted them gone.
5. As the Model T became the main mode of transportation which offered people a chance to go where they wanted to go anytime, it was their freedom.
My Video Selection
The Ford Edsel
This automobile was named after Ford's son
Was known as having a "toilet seat grill"
Pulled from line up after three years
People referred to this car as funny looking or odd
The Rise of Henry Ford
Came from an agricultural background (hated horses)
He did not actually create the first combustion engine
First company fails after about a year and a half
It was only in 1903 with the Ford Motor Company that started his work up and got his company off the ground
Automobile Timeline

Automobile Timeline
1908 Model T Introduced:
- Henry Ford begins making the Model T. First-year production is 10,660 cars. Cadillac is awarded the Dewar Trophy by Britain’s Royal Automobile Club for a demonstration of the precision and interchangeability of the parts from which the car is assembled. Mass production thus makes more headway in the industry.
I choose this point because it shows how successful the mass production was and how the company took off.
1914 First car body made entirely of steel
1914 First car body made entirely of steel
- Dodge introduces the first car body made entirely of steel, fabricated by the Budd Company. The Dodge touring car is made in Hamtramck, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit.
I choose this point because it is an important time in history and marks a big step for automobiles.
1926 First power steering system
- Francis Wright Davis uses a Pierce-Arrow to introduce the first power steering system. It works by integrating the steering linkage with a hydraulics system
I choose this point because this was a problem that was fixed for the better.
1935 Flashing turn signals introduced
- A Delaware company uses a thermal interrupter switch to create flashing turn signals. Electricity flowing through a wire expands it, completing a circuit and allowing current to reach the lightbulb. This short-circuits the wire, which then shrinks and terminates contact with the bulb but is then ready for another cycle. Transistor circuits begin taking over the task of thermal interrupters in the 1960s.
I choose this point because it is a big step towards the rules of the road and creating a new and convenient way to drive safely.

Journal Entry #8 Digital Law
I found most surprising about this unit is how so many people use copyright, because I didn't think it was that severe of a rule to be enforced. Something that was confusing or difficult to locate was how to report a crime correctly. Manual Copyright Matters was a very helpful thing for student who are not aware of the copyright rules because it makes them aware of what not to do. NeedHelpNow.com is a very helpful site for people who are going through a rough patch in life and need a helping hand. The biggest issue for young people around Copyright problems is school work and projects. they want to get a good mark so they think copyright is the only option. The biggest issue for teens when it comes to online bullying is standing by. People don't want to get into it and they stand by while someone battles it alone. We would rather ignore the problem than face it head on.
Assignment #2: CyberBullying (and Privacy)
1. Two ways to violate someones privacy is non-consensual distribution of an intimate image and voyeurism.
2. Acts That Make Others Feel Unsafe" Example: Harassment, making someone feel scared. Also, Acts that hurt the reputation of anther person, pretending to be someone else.
3. Three examples of how you can report a potential crime are by, calling the police, visiting Cybertip.ca website, and contacting kids help phone.
4. "Removing Pictures/Videos" There are certain things to do when removing pictures online. It is important to make your age known at the time the picture was taken. Also to igknolwegde that you are the person in the photo, and state you did not post the picture and you want it removed. Also you have to give as much information about the picture and who posted it.
"Dealing With My Peers" There are many solutions to dealing with your peers. First you can simply not answer and just delete the bully on social network sites. Then you can adjust you privacy settings and block the bully from contacting you. Also you can change your accounts, save the messages and report them to someone.
5. Something I found interesting is how much cyberbullying goes on in peoples everyday lives.
6. A change I could make is by sending messages of hope and letting people know they can talk to me if they need to.

Journal Entry #7: Digital Access
What I found most surprising about this unit was that small towns had to have immediate access to fiber network. What I found most difficult was to think of negative and positive things about the topics given. Yes, I think everyone should have fast access to the internet because they could need it for work purposes. I often worry about my privacy online, but rarely do anything to prevent it. I never post anything that could come back to haunt me. The biggest issue today with young people involving digital internet is they don't think about the consequences and post things that will haunt them in their adult life.

Assignment #2: Privacy Please
1. Our medical records should be all digitally stored online for all medical professionals to access within the hospital we needed.
Positive
Positive
- All medical records would be easy to access when needed
- Less paper being used
- Not a big hassle to look for patients medical records
Negative
- Medical records could be lost from digital complication
- Internet could fail and medical records couldn't be reached
- When changing something this important a lot of things could go wrong
2. School report cards and daily attendance should be digital and passwords should be issued for parents to log in and check results.
Positive
- Would make it easier on schools so they wouldn't have to call home or print of hundreds of report cards
- Parents would have 24/7 access to their child's education files
- Would help out the parents keep track of how many school days their kids are missing
Negative
- Maybe parents don't have access to the internet to check
- Maybe the parents don't have time to check
- It will take a lot to keep it updated for every student everyday
3. Schools in 2020 should be closed and teachers and students should begin learning in virtual classrooms using digital technology at home.
Positive
- People wouldn't have to find transformation to school every morning
- People have easier access to information on the internet
- Would save money on school supplies
Negative
- People such as lunch ladies/janitors would be out jobs
- Maybe people don't have access to the technology needed for this new process
- Little kids wouldn't learn to read and write the same way which could be bad
Assignment #1: Fast Internet Speeds in Canadian small towns
1. Some of the internet connections in rural communities that are mentioned in the article that are fast are 100 megabits per second.
2. These communities are getting faster internet speeds because most of the customers "Wightman" Telecoms have are into special arrangements to get full gigabit internet. Costumers of "Wightman" Telecoms get a better deal than with Rogers or Bell.
3.According to Hope Reidt, the community of "Harriston" is fortunate because their owners are very forward thinking, so they're way ahead of the curve in terms of wanting to prove the best technology available.

Journal Entry #6: Digital Business
What I found most surprising about this unit was that there is such a rival between online and offline shopping. I wasn't aware people cared about where they got their items as long as they got them. What I found confusing about this unit was that there was not very many reasons as to why people prefer online or offline shopping more. I have purchased a few things off line, depending on the website, the item could be very good or a waste of money. I have never sold anything online. Two tips I feel are helpful are "If you have a credit card they often come with large interest rates. Consider getting a "credit line" at the bank and transferring credit card purchases to the credit line ASAP to take advantage of the LOWER INTEREST RATES". Also "When buying online sometimes prices seem too good to be true so be careful of LARGE SHIPPING COSTS designed by the seller to get the real price through trickery". The biggest issue with young people today shopping online is that they become obsessed with it, they don't know when enough is enough and buy stuff they don't need.

Assignment #2: Paypals
1. Paypal is a safe and effective way for people to transfer money between buyers and sellers on online stores and offline stores, it is so popular because it is accessible so quickly and is easy.
2. Paypal keeps you safe while shopping online because it helps protect your identity from identity fraud by not sharing your personal information.
3. Paypal makes money by charging their customers hidden fees.
4. If you purchase something from Asia and it doesn't come in, Paypal can help you by reimbursing you and helping get your money back.
5. I would use Paypal for my payment mainly because it looks like a reliable helpful website. I feel like I could trust them with my information.
6. Once I compared Paypal to Google Wallet I found that I preferred Paypal more. I preferred Paypal more than the others because it seems more helpful and secure. Paypal is an easy and effective website to use.

Assignment #1: Shopping Carts?
1. Two of the biggest reasons people still shop at stores are because there is no wait, and they have it at there fingertips with only a small drive.
2. Two of the biggest reasons people shop online is because there is more selection than in stores, and people can customize the product to their own style.
3. If I had the ability, I would personally use shopping online. I like shopping online better because you can get a lot of stuff that might not be in stock at the stores, and also because you don't have to wait in any lines to purchase.
4. I think in the year 2050 the buying experience will be evenly balanced, most people don't enjoy online shopping and will stick to what they know.
5. I feel like this is a good business plan, they aren't excelling in one area so they will try to perfect another area.
6. One way online stores can make their return polices more convenient are letting the buyers know the second time their products are being shipped will be a lot faster. This would make it easier than going to the store to exchange their products.

Journal Entry #5 (Digital Wellness)
What I found most surprising when it comes to issues around Digital Wellness are all the people that aren't living and maintaining a healthy lifestyle because of the internet, they let technology consume their lives. Something I found hard about this unit is minimizing my internet time so I can maintain a healthy sleeping schedule, make time fore friends and family, get better grades, and make time for myself. Once you depend on technology for so long, you feel like you need it for everything. The worst thing for teens when it comes to Digital Wellness is spending too much time on the internet and depending on technology too much. They let it consume them to the point where they don't go anywhere without it.
Activity #1: One Mississippi
1.Seeing these distances in meter sticks made me feel scared and nervous to look away from the road again. Looking away from the road has been proven to be a very dangerous thing to do, you never know what can happen in a few seconds.
2. One reason this is effective is because it makes you think, is looking away from the road to do something worth the risk? is it that important that it can't wait? One reason it probably won't change anything and people will still continue to do it is because it hasn't happened to the yet, and they won't start to care and change the way they are until they get an example of what it feels like.
3. Something that can help drivers not get distracted is a built in phone from your car that you can speak to, you are sending a text just by simply saying a few words.
4. Next time I am in a car with a distracted driver I will most definitely speak up, because it is important not to put you or other cars in harms way.

I pledge to log off of all social media accounts before 10 pm
I pledge to put my physical heath over the internet
I pledge to limit my time on technology everyday
I pledge to put my school work before social media
I pledge to only use the internet for school related things when i'm doing homework

Journal #4: Netiquette
What I found most surprising when it comes to issues around Netiquette is that so many don't follow the rules of how to act on the internet. People are still so carefree when it comes to the internet, they turn a blind eye to cyber bullying and continue to say mean and demeaning things to hurt people. I don't think people concern themselves with the terms of service/use agreements when joining a site because when on the internet people don't really pay attention. I really think they should pay attention to that stuff when they are logging on to sites because you never know what you are up against or what could happen. I would rate my online behavior as a nine out of ten. I don't really say much online or post that much. One thing I would use from this unit to improve my online behavior would be don't use all caps to type, mainly because people would think I am roaring at them. The biggest issue with teens now is cyber bullying. People think it's okay to make people feel bad about themselves because they think it will make them feel better. But this is not correct or the right thing to do.

Assignment #3 "Netiquette" Online Discussion Boards
1. Many of these guidelines are similar to how we expect people to act face to face because it is like the same thing. When talking face to face people try to be polite and respectful and the same goes for people talking on the internet.
2. Four guidelines I feel are extremely helpful and necessary when interacting with others in an online discussion are:
2. Four guidelines I feel are extremely helpful and necessary when interacting with others in an online discussion are:
- "Don't badmouth people or call them stupid. You may disagree with the ideas but don't mock the person" because it can hurt their feelings if it gets back to them.
- "Don't type using all caps, if you do it looks like you're screaming", this could hurt their feelings and make them feel stupid or like they've done something wrong.
- "Be forgiving. If your classmate makes a mistake, don't badger them about it, just let it go, it happens to the best of us", this will make them feel like it's okay to make mistakes and they will then not be afraid to mess
- "Don't write anything that sounds mean or sarcastic, even as a joke, because without hearing your tone of voice they might not know you're joking.
4. I think would really enjoy a course where we could discuss issues online with other students. I would enjoy this because I would like to help prevent it from happening again and warning people about what could happen.
Do As I Say (Assignment #2)
Five reasons that will keep me on the path to creating a wonderful online world are:
1. I don't want to be unhappy, so I won't put bad things on the internet.
2. I want to make everyone happy so I will put uplifting things on the computer.
3. I don't want to break the law so I won't hack.
4. I don't want to hurt anyone, so I won't cyberbully.
5. I don't want to spread viruses, so I will stay on safe websites.

(Assignment #1) Online Standards of Service Use
1. Five companies that use the terms and services agreements or have major conditions before using are: Email, Microsoft Word, iTunes, Facebook and Netflix.
2. Five things you should be aware of when not reading Terms of Service and Agreements are: "If they host your photo, they also own it", "They can turn your device into an expensive Brick", "You don't own what you Bought", "iTunes knows who you are and what you are Doing" and "You're almost always giving away your right to sue".

Journal Entry #3 (Digital Rights and Responsibilities)
I found it most surprising when it comes to digital rights and responsibilities that there are certain rules that you are supposed to follow that most people don't. I don't think people act responsibly online. Most people do whatever they want when online because they don't think there will be consequences. The most important commandment out of the ten are "Thou shalt not commit identity fraud". I think this is the most important because it can ruin peoples lives. The biggest issue on digital rights and responsibilities among young people are cyber bullying. They think it is okay to harass and hurt people just because they are behind a screen.

Acronyms Attack (Assignment Two)
1. Three more school appropriate acronyms that can help save time during a digital communication are, CYHMWT (can you help me with this?), CIHSP (can I have some paper?) and DYW (do you work).
2. Four places I would never use acronyms would be, writing a letter to my grandparents, in a resume for a job, talking to my parents, and school projects.

Journal Entry #2 (Digital Communication)
I found it most surprising that there are certain expectations you will be held to when writing and opening a Email. There are rules you should follow when using digital communication. Three things I learned from the video Email Etiquette are, do not use all caps when writing an Email, open and reply an Email within 24 hours and always name your Emails very effectively. Blind Carbon Copy (BCC) is a copy of an email message sent to recipient without the recipient's address appearing in the message. I would use BCC in an email when I receive an email that I can not return do to not having the recipients address. I think the most important thing young people should learn about using digital communication is how to use it safely and responsibly. Use it with care and show other people respect when using it. Make sure online bullying doesn't happen and anything else can can turn into a dangerous situation.

Communication Compass (Assignment One)
1.Digital communication is any electronic exchanging of information.
2. Four digital communication advantages are, it makes it easy to connect with people from all around the world, keep in contact with people at all times, makes it easy to keep and eye on things such as your kids, no time and paper is wasted with writing letters. Four digital communication disadvantages are, it is unreliable because it can not be recognized by a signature, people can hack into your digital life, you often don't think about what you are writing before you hit send, and it makes your work portable so it then consumes peoples lives.
3. Three forms of digital communication that are popular today are, Email, cellphones/texting and video chatting. These three are the most popular because they are the most up to date and convenient, they allow technology right at our fingertips where and when we want it.
4. Three forms of digital communication I think will not be around much longer are landlines, different forms of social media, and my space/email. I think these will no longer be around because we are growing around new forms of technology and the old stuff is growing old and rarely used.
5. Five locations where we should really not use digital communication are school, with close friends, with family that lives close to you, the work place, and at dinner/family gatherings.
6. Two forms of digital communication that represent the greatest dangers are cyber bulling/bulling/internet abuse, and lack of privacy and security. These can easily occur when using the internet, bullies rarely think before they type and don't know what they say really can effect someone, also it is very easy for someone to get your personal information via the internet and on your social media accounts without you realizing.
7. I think human kids with continue to be more and more connected, they will grow up on technology and will never learn to live without it, they will rely on it, and the will become obsessed. I think this because once you have something in your life for such a long time everyday it becomes to imagine your life without it. So they would rather die than give up their cellphones.
8. If a person were to die and leave behind all their online communications I think they should put it in their will what they want done with their belongings, whether or not they want it destroyed or contributed to the internet. If they die unexpectedly then I think it should be up to their loved ones what to do with the information, for example if they didn't have the passwords then the online communication should be destroyed. I think what they want done with their digital communications should be entirely up to them, it's their work and it should be their choice.

Journal #1:Digital Security
I found it surprising that there is a process and expectations to making a password. You need to have a secure password in order to keep your information for your eyes only. I found it confusing and difficult that you need to have a password a sentence long to keep hackers from hacking my stuff. It confused me as to why someone would want to hack into someones personal belongings. I think I have pretty secure password that no one would figure out. It is something that only I would know. The most important thing to think of while making a password is something long and meaningful to you. Something no one else would ever guess.
Digital Security (Assignment One)
1. I would say the passwords listed are easy to guess. They have simple characters such as the alphabet and numbers, the longest one is nine letters long, which could easily be guessed as 123456789.
2. I personally never used any of these passwords because I thought they would be too easily guessed.
3. I do not think adults and seniors would use passwords such as these because they have no meaning to them and they probably would remember a date or name that is important to them. However, if they do use these passwords they should change them into something only they would know and that couldn't be easily guessed.
4. Three extra horrible passwords that were not put on this list were, your name, your phone number or something like your street number.
5. A modern strong password should be about a sentence, as long as possible so it can't be guessed.

Third Party Google Apps
An app I found appealing on Google Drive is Cloud ePub Reader. I found this appealing because it seemed like a good idea because reading is well liked and enjoyed by everyone. This seems like it would be a very successful app because people could use it on the go and be used by people of all ages. Another app I found appealing is Cloud Coloring Book. This is a very fun app that can be fun for all ages. It saves paper and money for colors and coloring books. This is a very entertaining app!
