Assignment #1: Fast Internet Speeds in Canadian small towns

1. Some of the internet connections in rural communities that are mentioned in the article that are fast are 100 megabits per second.
2. These communities are getting faster internet speeds because most of the customers "Wightman" Telecoms have are into special arrangements to get full gigabit internet.  Costumers of  "Wightman" Telecoms get a better deal than with Rogers or Bell.
3.According to Hope Reidt, the community of "Harriston" is fortunate because their owners are very forward thinking, so they're way ahead of the curve in terms of wanting to prove the best technology available.
4. The community of "Olds" decided to build their own fiber network because businesses were threatening to leave town because of their sluggish internet.
5. When the community installed their own fiber optic network "Stratford" develops a reputation as an IT hub after it installed it's own fiber network.
6. Bell installed fiber optics in 1.1 million Toronto homes.
7. Small towns and communities need high speed internet now more than ever to keep employers and residents from fleeing to the city.
8. The federal government has supplied 305 million to this process to ensure every house hold in Canada has at least five megabit per second broadband.
